The Fortunes of King Croesus
Reinhard Keiser, one of the most popular and prolific composers in his own time and a mentor of Handel, composed this opera based on the story of the riches of King Croesus, his son, court and downfall. With varied arias, duets and ensembles in styles drawn from music around the world, it is one of the only operas that remains from his many compositions. Tim Albery and Harry Bicket arranged, edited and compiled this version in a co-production with Opera North in Leeds.
